BTEC Level 3 HeadStart Course in VB.NET Programming

HeadStart Programming course in VB.NET - For BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT

This is a one day course that will focus students who have never programmed before and will give a simple introduction to Visual Studio and VB.NET.

This course is aimed at BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma students who have either not studied GCSE computing or students from a Python background who wish to know more about VB.NET and Visual Studio

​

​This is a 1 day course limited to 8 students, 1:1 tuition cannot be guaranteed.

​

topics covered will include:​

·         An Introduction to the Henley College

·         An Introduction to Visual Studio and VB.NET

·         Basic output programming ‘Hello World’

·         Modifying output for formatting

·         Basic inputs to a program

·         Basic logic – If Else

·         Getting your program to repeat

·         Basic file Input/Output

Some basic information about the course includes:

​

  • The course will start at 09:00 and finish at 16:00

  • Students will need to make their own way to and from the college

  • No food will be provided, so students should bring a packed lunch.

  • There is no eating or drinking in the IT rooms.

  • Students should aim to be at Deanfield reception for 08:45, they will be escorted to the teaching room where a register will be taken.

  • Students will be given a temporary username and password for the duration of the course, which will be separate from their college username and password

  • If your student has any specific medical or learning needs, please can you notify the course tutor before the start of the session.

  • All teaching materials are free to take away on a USB memory stick, so please bring one if you have one. All materials are, however, copyright ©TheComputingTutor, so please do not copy or disseminate.
